Is Creatine a Steroid?

by John

is creatine a steroid

What’s all the fuss about creatine and is it a steroid? For some time people have been confused about the use of this substance by body builders and amateur athletes. Contrary to the commonly believed notion, creatine is not in fact a steroid. Creatine is actually a natural amino acid found in proteins produced by the human body.

The main question that has preoccupied bodybuilders and other athletes is whether the substance will cause them to put on too much muscle and as a result gain weight. Bodybuilders naturally produce high levels of creatine because this is their source of energy. They also ingest this supplement because it helps their muscles recover faster from intense training. But is creatine a steroid or simply a healthy supplement that can help bodybuilding enthusiasts develop bigger muscles and reduce weight gain? The answer to this question can only be answered by the people involved in bodybuilding.

Some of the top professional bodybuilders take creatine to avoid putting on too much muscle during their workouts. This substance enables them to get more energy, enabling them to complete more rigorous workouts without tiring. Another reason why some bodybuilders take it is to avoid the side effects that steroids can produce such as hair loss, skin pigmentation, kidney damage and stunted growth.

Bodybuilders are not the only ones who can benefit from these supplements. Athletes who require larger amounts of energy to perform intense physical activities can also derive benefits from these supplements. Monohydrate is a type of creature that can be found in several health and fitness products. You can find monohydrate in multivitamins, sports drinks, protein powders and bars. Athletes and bodybuilders commonly choose this substance for its high absorption rate and fat-burning properties. As a matter of fact, studies have shown that athletes who regularly take monohydrate have more lean muscle mass than those who do not.

The question still remains whether is creatine a steroid? There is no clear answer to this question because it really depends on the person taking the supplement. It is known that there is a link between increased levels of creatine and improved sports performance. This substance is known to increase levels of the human body’s natural male sex hormone, testosterone.

However, the debate still continues. The pros and cons of creatine supplementation cannot be weighed equally, because each individual has his or her own unique case. Creatine is an anabolic steroid, so it is important to take this into consideration when trying to decide if it is truly a safe and healthy supplement to use. If you want to experience maximum muscle growth and improve your athletic performance while gaining strength at the same time, then creatine is for you. But remember to consult your doctor before taking any creatine based supplement because your doctor knows your medical history.
