Is Creatine Monohydrate A Steroid?

by John

This is one of the most common questions that I am asked by bodybuilders who are starting to use creatine for the first time. They are wondering is creatine monohydrate a steroid? Can it damage the body? After reading this article you will get the answer to all these questions.

is creatine monohydrate a steroid

I think the biggest misconception about monohydrate is that it can give you massive amounts of muscle mass very quickly. The problem is that the side effects that come with this supplement are horrible. People have even been known to end up dead because of the use of this substance. So yes it is a steroid, but it is not one that is going to give you anything more than what you would get from an illegal drug. This is a very controversial substance because many people believe that creatine monohydrate is not only safer but also much more effective than steroid use.

What creatine monohydrate actually does is give your body more fuel when you are working out. This is because it speeds up your body’s metabolic rate so that it is burning more calories at a faster rate. The side effects are also very bad. It will make your hair grow very fast, you will start to suffer from mood swings, anxiety, and even high blood pressure. You may also be able to see some major changes in your muscle mass and strength.

The reason that people doubt the effectiveness of these supplements is because they do not know much about how steroids work. They simply do not realize that they will experience some pretty big changes in their bodies when they use them. The sad thing is that the few people that know about how steroids work still recommend that people use them despite the dangers.

Here is the thing though. The truth is that creatine monohydrate is not a steroid at all. It is a natural supplement that is FDA approved. There is even a list of approved ingredients on the back of the bottle. There is no prescription necessary buy this product. In fact, you can get this product over the counter at any local drug store.

The reason that most people do not believe that creatine monohydrate is a steroid is because there is no way for them to ingest enough of it to get any noticeable effects. The reason that it is legal to sell this product over the counter is because it is a dietary supplement. Dietary supplements are not subject to the same FDA regulations that pharmaceutical drugs are. Keep in mind that steroids are not dietary supplements either.
